When faced with two choices, simply toss a coin. It works not because it settles the question for you. But because in that brief moment when the coin is in the air, you suddenly know what you are hoping for.
I remember in college, I ran for the student council to represent my college. I was a junior then, currently working on a major academic writing and an active member of the school debate team. It wasn't of my plans to run for any post but I was left without a choice since lots of my batch mates were rooting for me.
Day of the election came and I was so overwhelmed with the responses from students coming in to the precinct to cast their votes. They recognise me. I guess after the election, whether I win or lose, I may not have that kind of college life I used to have. In the afternoon, after the votes had been counted, I tied with another candidate from the other party. In that case, the Election Committee decided to toss a coin, that, according to the Election rules, is the only way to know which among us is gonna take the seat.
I had mixed emotions. At one side of my mind I wanted to win so I can serve my fellow students and on the other side I wanted the other one to win, and I rather focus on my studies, I'll be senior next year and for sure there'll be lots of essay writing tasks. I'll have more time if I don't get elected.
My side of the coin lose. But I am definitely happy knowing the fact that lots of people are at my back, giving their selfless support just when I need them.
